Paris, 1899 and Christian, a new arrival to a city bubbling over with bohemian types, is drawn into the colourful, vibrating and sometimes shocking world of the Moulin Rouge. It’s here that he meets the beautiful Satine, the Sparkling Diamond, the jewel in the crown of the Moulin, and falls in love. His reason for being in Paris is to write which he does, but his story becomes tainted with far more than he bargained for, beyond the comfortable Bohemian ideals of Freedom, Beauty, Truth and Love.
UpShoot are known for producing exciting, different, cutting-edge and high quality theatre. Recent productions: The Curse of the Black Death, Bricks & Mortals, Punk & Julie. This production has been put together by the company, naturally different from the film. Bringing together the creative and curious in our community, UpShoot's impressive cast of 24 performers deliver a exciting, playful and energised show.
